84-year-old sustains serious injuries in single-vehicle crash

Oct. 23—A Kidder, Missouri, man was severely injured in a crash Sunday afternoon two miles east of Cameron.

Nellie V. Hughes, 84, was eastbound on Old U.S. Highway 36 at about 1:45 p.m. in a 2005 Dodge Dakota when the truck traveled off the roadway and struck a utility sign and then a tree. The truck spun clockwise and came to rest facing west, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Hughes was taken to Liberty Hospital with serious injuries.

It is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
