86-year-old LEGO fanatic has a passion for play

Happy Wednesday, everyone! We’re halfway through the week, and it’s also National Library Shelfie Day! A shelfie, of course, is a portrait of your bookshelves – feel free to share, and have fun arranging them.

You can see it from the sidewalk: a replica of the Titanic, nearly five feet long, spanning the front window of Bob Higgins’ home on Beach Street in Fall River. What you might not be able to see is that the model, a 1:200 scale reproduction of the famous cruise ship, is made from thousands of tiny LEGOs. Higgins, 86, has made a hobby out of collecting and building highly detailed models out of the small plastic blocks.
