87-foot LED dome coming to North Texas will make livestreamed events feel like you’re there

A new immersive entertainment venue is coming to North Texas.

Cosm is bringing a 65,000-square-foot entertainment venue to The Colony next year. Ground broke on the new facility in early June at the city’s retail and shopping area — the Grandscape.

The venue will hold an 87-foot diameter LED dome that will show live sporting events, concerts and art installations. By using immersive sound and the large screen, the dome is said to capture the experience of being at live events such as NBA games or UFC matches, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Construction on the dome and an outdoor deck is expected to be completed by fall 2024.

Cosm is the same company behind the new screen being installed at the Omni IMAX theater at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. The LED dome at the museum will be 78-foot in diameter, just a tad smaller than the Grandscape’s dome.
