The 87th Shrine Bowl won’t be hard to find. It’ll stream and air on multiple outlets

The Shrine Bowl is coming back to live TV.

Bahakel Sports and WCCB Channel 18 will broadcast the 87th Shrine Bowl Dec. 16 from Greenville, S.C. The game was last televised in 2019. There was no game played in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.

The 2022 game, which was played at Spartanburg High School, was not televised or streamed.

This year’s game will air live on WCCB over-the-air and it will stream on wccbcharlotte.com and at bahakelsports.com.

Additionally, the game will stream on MeTV subchannels in Columbia (WOLO) and Myrtle Beach (WFXB). The game will also stream on those stations’ websites — abcolumbia.com and wfxb.com

The Shrine Bowl, which started in 1937, annually pairs some of the best public school football players in North Carolina against their S.C. counterparts. The game benefits the Shriner’s Childrens’ hospital in Greenville.

“The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas showcases the very best high school football players,” said Beverly Bahakel, President and CEO of Bahakel Communications. “The Shriners have generously provided medical care for children and their families here in the Carolinas for over a hundred years. It’s an honor for all of us at Bahakel Sports to partner with this incredible organization.”

Shrine Bowl Chairman of the Board Ronnie Blount said it was good to get the game back on live TV.

“We are no stranger to having America’s oldest High School All-Star football game televised,” he said. “I feel this new partnership from right here in the Carolinas is the best fit yet to get our game out to the fans and to get our message out about Shriners Children’s.”
