9-1-1: Lone Star actress Brianna Baker will appear much more prominently throughout season 3.

The promotion of her character Nancy Gillian was confirmed by showrunner Tim Minear, who shared the news with TVLine recently.

"We're going to learn more about her," he teased.

"It's funny, the story that we gave her this year [in season 2] of feeling like she wasn't at the cool kids' table, was sort of me and [executive producer Rashad Raisani] writing about how she was kind of treated on the show until we realised how incredibly cool she is.

"So the characters talking about her character on screen is really me and Rashad talking about Brianna and how incredible she is," Minear went on to explain.

Baker, whose other TV credits include House of Lies and Chicago Fire, has been a part of 9-1-1: Lone Star's cast since its debut season early last year.

Her paramedic character's backstory is yet to be explored properly, although viewers did catch a glimpse of how Nancy lost several of her colleagues during season 2.

This included a dramatic volcano disaster which killed poor Tim.

9-1-1: Lone Star airs on FOX in the US and Sky Witness in the UK.
