9-1-1 season 6 episode 12 spoilers follow.

9-1-1 star Peter Krause has opened up on the impact the latest episode has had on his character, Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Bobby Nash.

In episode 'Recovery', aired in the US last night (March 20), Krause's Bobby is determined to prove his Los Angeles sponsor Wendell Bray (Michael Grant Terry) was murdered.

In new scenes, Bobby finally learned the truth on Wendell's passing. The firefighter's friend was about to expose Winding Path's abusive practices when he agreed to receive an injection from Carrie in order to save Tamara. However, that injection ended up being fatal.

"It's a really strong episode," Krause told TVLine. "This is also an important episode when it comes to addiction and sobriety and the support that people need. Whether you're struggling with something like that or not, we all need each other, and that's something that's always been part of Bobby's arc."

The episode also shed a light on who Wendell was to Bobby, revealing the pivotal role the sponsor played in the captain and Athena (Angela Bassett) coming together.

"I was glad that everyone got to know the relationship between Wendell and Bobby a lot more. He kind of came out of nowhere for the audience, I think. He hadn't been established in the past as Bobby's new sponsor in Los Angeles. It was nice to see that Wendell was integral in Bobby and Athena coming together, and also just in Bobby letting go of some of his guilt when he can."

Krause said his character may not be on duty in 'Recovery', but is "heroic" nonetheless, as the episode unveils new layers of Bobby's previous life.

"He's heroic in this episode, but he's in his civilian clothes and it's a deeply personal episode for Bobby," the actor said before revealing the storyline was pulled from the news.

"Human nature can infect any organization, and it's a shame that this can happen at a rehabilitation centre."

9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star both air on FOX and Hulu in the US and Sky Witness in the UK.
