9 April Fools' Day pranks that'll save you money — simply for being a good sport

April Fools' Day is a...touchy subject on the internet.

Some of us live for the weird things that companies come up with (Duolingo Push seems to be a crowd favorite) and some of us would rather avoid the internet completely. Microsoft is so over the lies that it urged employees to stay away from stunts today.

Regardless of your stance, there's one thing we can all agree with: Saving money rules. This year, numerous companies are rewarding customers with money off or discount codes as a "thank you" for letting them have their fun. And we've found all the best ones for you.

So no, the Duolingo owl is not going to bust your through bedroom window to remind you to learn Spanish — but being a good sport about Smile Direct Club's flavored aligners could save you $100.

Also of importance: Today only, Poopurri is actually selling a Street Taco-scented spray in honor of last year's prank scent.

1. T-Mobile

Prank: Pretending to text to avoid eye contact in public is so last year. T-Mobile's new BoothE is the ultimate accessory for people who want to just want to watch Tik Toks in peace. Just pop open the chamber when you need silence — or an umbrella, because it's weatherproof.

One of the questions on their FAQ page is whether or not this is an April Fools' joke, to which T-Mobile responded: "We don’t joke about evolutionary technology, but if we were going to make fake tech, we’d probably put an E on it…and announce it on April 1."

Deal: Buy any Samsung Galaxy S10 and get a Galaxy S10e FREE, or get $750 back on any Galaxy S10 or S10+ purchase. This has nothing to do with April Fools' Day, but we thought you'd need a pick-me-up after discovering that the super cool BoothE isn't real.

2. Google

Prank: The secret language of tulips is one that we all dream of understanding someday, and Google has finally made it possible. Google says that Google Tulip uses AI to decode Tulipish (obviously) as well as dozens of human languages. Can the Duolingo owl teach you Tulipish? Didn't think so.

Deal: Google Assistant can't actually talk to flowers, but it can answer most questions that you have better than Alexa. Grab a Google Home Mini for $10 off at Walmart.

3. Spotify

Prank: Did you peep those extra letters? This morning, Spotify users were elusively given a special playlist in place of their usual Discover Weekly: Discocover Weekly, which was literally a playlist of disco covers. We're not even mad about it — this is the energy we needed for a Monday.

Deal: For a limited time, all Spotify Premium users get a free Hulu subscription (worth $5.99/month). It's not related to April Fools' Day, but it's such a good deal that it seems like a joke. If you haven't upgraded to Premium yet, you can sign up for the bundle here.

4. HelloFresh

Prank: After extensive research, HelloFresh has determined that rainbow food is all the rage right now. Forget that whole grain, plant-based BS — the new Unicorn Box contains the farm-fresh candy, pizza with icing, and jars of sprinkles that you've been craving.

Deal: Today only, you can save 40% and take $20 off your first three boxes. Alternatively, if you can feel cavities forming just by looking at this picture, you can save $80 on this Oral-B toothbrush.

5. Smile Direct Club

Prank: Speaking of teeth, we miss the days of customizing braces with colored rubber bands. Smile Direct Club wants to bring that same fun to invisible aligners by launching Canine Aligners for smiley pups, Flavored Aligners in eight flavors (including peanut butter and crab cakes), and Bluetooth Aligners that can take calls and play music through bone-conducting technology.

Deal: After clicking through to "order" one of these, you can use code APRILFOOLS100 to save $100 on real aligner deliveries.

6. Shutterstock

Browse royalty-free photos and clips via dusty books and film reels, all while study-friendly music plays in the background.

Deal: Use code SS10 to take 10% off Shutterstock's actual photo library of 200 million images and 14 million HD videos.

7. Farm Rich Mozzarella Sticks

Prank: Balloon and confetti gender reveals are so boring — we get it, you live near a Party City. Make your gender reveal go viral on Facebook with these new mozzarella sticks from Farm Rich, complete with blue or pink cheese inside. They can also double as catering for your party.

Deal: Though someone from your high school may steal this idea, it's not real. However, Farm Rich is offering a downloadable coupon to take a whole dollar off actual frozen mozzarella sticks, mozzarella bites, or jalapeño poppers. This is the brand that you buy when the TGI Fridays kind is too expensive, and now it's even cheaper.

8. Build-A-Bear Workshop

Prank: Are Tinder and Bumble just plain depressing at this point? If you're ready to skip the games and settle down, Build-A-Bae may be the app you need. From the wholesome creators at Build-A-Bear Workshop, this new "algrrrrithm" analyzes your True Heart to match you with your True Love.

Deal: Just like Tinder's height verification, this is another dating app hoax. However, you can take 25% off stuffed animals, clothes, and accessories with code APRILFOOLS.

Deal: Use code TRICKSTER to take 20% off sitewide.
