9 juveniles who escaped from a detention center in Pennsylvania are in custody, state police say
All nine juveniles who escaped from a detention center in eastern Pennsylvania Sunday night following a riot are in police custody, officials say.
The juveniles escaped from Abraxas Academy, a detention center in Morgantown, about an hour outside of Philadelphia. The facility houses teens with a history of criminal and delinquent behavior.
Officials say the juveniles overpowered two staff members and stole keys to escape.
Four of the juveniles were taken into custody around 5:45 a.m. Monday, state police announced. At around 7:30 a.m., state police said all nine were in custody.
State and local police were called to take control of the juvenile center after the riot began inside the facility, the Caernarvon Township Police Department said in a statement on its website.
State police said they will all be charged with escape.
