9-year-old boy found safe, mother in custody after alleged Sacramento child abduction

Sacramento police said a 9-year-old who was allegedly abducted by a parent without custody rights was located safely in Stockton after going missing Thursday.

In a community alert about the abduction, investigators said the boy was taken by his mother, 38-year-old Frances Saso. She was wanted on suspicion of concealing a child from a custodial parent, according to Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers post seeking information on her whereabouts.

In an update late Friday, police said that the boy was “located safe and returned to his father,” while the biological mother was arrested.

Police did not say where they were located or how they were found but Saso was being held in the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp for a Sacramento County warrant hold and one felony child abduction charge.

The jail log indicates that Saso was arrested by the Stockton Police Department but no other information on her arrest was available.

Saso is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and is expected to be returned to Sacramento to face additional charges.
