9-year-old boy dies after falling out of Bronx apartment building

A 9-year-old boy died Sunday afternoon after falling out of a Bronx apartment building, according to police.

Officers responding to a 911 call about the child tumbling out of the fourth floor of the building on Mount Hope Place near Anthony Ave. found him unresponsive on the sidewalk, cops said.

The boy was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released.

Neighbor Joshua Rodriguez described a chaotic scene until first responders arrived.

“People were screaming, ‘Call 911!’ I saw him on the ground under the tree and did CPR on him,” he said.

“He was not responding,” Rodriguez added. “The police arrived and took him to the hospital. The ambulance never came.”

The little victim lived with his foster mom and two foster siblings, according to a person who identified herself as his step-sister.

“His mother had just gone into the bathroom when it happened. I am trying to be strong,” said the relation, Maria Ramos. “It is a nightmare.”
