9 places to go in South Jersey to get traditional Irish eats on St. Patrick's Day

And just like that, we’re two months into the new year.

The good news is, St. Patrick’s Day is March 17. That means green beer, corned beef, shepherd’s pie, Guinness stew and loads of fun.

Here are nine South Jersey pubs or bars to go to for Irish eats to celebrate that day:

Anglesea Pub, Wildwood

Irish beers such as Guinness, Harp, and Smithwick’s will be plentiful at this family-owned and operated Jersey Shore hot spot.

The menu includes a corned beef special, grilled Reuben, fish and chips, Sean’s Shepherd pie, and a Paddy Wagon burger – an eight-ounce burger with cheddar cheese, bacon and homemade Guinness barbeque sauce, on a kaiser roll and topped with onion rings.

Snog The Rock performs from 1 to 7 p.m. and Jamie and the Quietmen from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Dunleavy’s Restaurant, Hainesport

This Burlington County favorite will offer Guinness stew, corned beef and cabbage, and ham and cabbage on St. Patty’s Day.

The Irish Pub has more than 24,000 Facebook followers, which speaks to its popularity.

The menu features fish and chips, and the pub's corned beef special on soft rye bread with Russian dressing and coleslaw.

They feature Guinness and Kelsey Grammer’s Faith American beer on tap plus a wide selection of domestic and imported beers and cocktail specials.

Their legendary Bag Day celebration is March 18 and will be hosted by Grammer.

Keg & Kitchen, Westmont

Irish specials like shepherd's pie, fish and chips, corned beef sandwiches, corned beef dumpling and corned beef and cabbage will be offered.

Lots of Guinness and Jameson will be available.

An Irish band will play on Friday and Saturday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Old Oar House Irish Pub, Millville

The popular pub sits in the heart of Millville’s Glasstown Arts District.

There will be drink and shot specials along with traditional dinner specials, including corned beef (brined and cooked in-house) and cabbage, Irish bangers and mash, Irish breakfast shots, green beer, Guinness and more.

From music to green tea shots to Guinness stout beef stew, the White Horse Pike mainstay has all sorts of treats planned for St. Patrick’s Day.

The menu includes beef and stout pie, Mulligan's stew, corned beef or ham with cabbage, boiled potato and rye bread.

If that's not enough, you can also expect Guinness stout beef stew with creamed potatoes, shepherd’s pie, braised lamb shanks with mashed potatoes and veggies, Irish salmon with Irish butter sauce and more.

DJ Ralph comes on at 4 p.m. Bagpipers will perform from 7 to 8 p.m. Mulligan’s opens at 11 a.m.

Schileen’s Pub, Westville

An 8 a.m. opening, a DJ and green eggs and ham breakfast.

Green bud light will be on tap, Irish breakfast shots and Irish potato martinis will be served.

The Camden County bagpipers perform at noon.

Thomas Murphy’s Pub, Gloucester City

The menu will feature Irish nachos – loaded tater tots with cheese, bacon and scallions ­– roast beef sandwiches, fish and chips, shepherd’s pie and the corned beef special.

Thomas Murphy’s has a pretty extensive draft list but will have Guinness, and beers from local breweries such as Tonewood and Yards.

Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery, Sicklerville

Some pubs have the coolest names and Tilted Kilt Pub is one of them.

Green-tinted beer will be available as well as homemade shepherd's pie, corned beef and cabbage, Reuben flatbread, Reuben sandwich, and more.

Watson Celtic Pipes and Drums will play at 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. The Emerald Isle Academy of Irish Dance performs at 2 p.m.

They’re open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
