9 ways to become an environmental activist, 10 years after the Climate Change Act was signed

It's 10 years this month since the Climate Change Act was signed. At the time, the UK led the way in tackling global warming when we became the first country to introduce legislation to cut emissions.

Since then, we've woken up to the impact of single-use plastics on our oceans. But, leading scientists and Friends of the Earth are warning that we must do much more to protect the future of our precious planet for future generations.

"2008 saw the ultimate demonstration in people power, as across the country communities joined forces to call for a law to slash UK emissions," Emi Murphy, climate change campaigner at Friends of the Earth, says.

"Climate change is the biggest issue of our generation; one that needs us all to work together to keep the damage to a minimum."
