91 new covid cases reported in Penn-Trafford area between March 9-31, 2021

Mar. 31—Ninety-one new covid cases were reported in the Penn-Trafford-Jeannette area between March 9 and March 31, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Since the pandemic began, the six ZIP codes covering most of the three communities have seen a total of 1,834 confirmed cases.

As of March 31, there were 985 confirmed coronavirus cases, up by 50 since March 9, in the Jeannette 15644 ZIP code, which covers part of Penn Township. There have been 561 probable cases and 4,611 coronavirus tests with negative results.

In the 15085 ZIP code, which encompasses Trafford and part of North Huntingdon, the state found 438 confirmed cases as of March 31, an increase of 28 since March 9. There were 192 probable cases in that ZIP code and 1,926 negative test results.

In the Harrison city 15636 ZIP code, there were 230 confirmed cases as of March 31, an increase of 11 since March 9. There were 122 probable cases and 948 negative results.

In the 15665 ZIP code for Manor, there were 100 confirmed cases, an increase of four since March 9. There were 60 probable cases and 341 negative results.

In the Penn Borough 15675 ZIP code, there were 49 confirmed cases as of March 31, an increase of five cases since March 9. There were 34 probable cases and 225 negative results.

The Claridge 15623 ZIP code had 40 confirmed cases, an increase of one since March 9. As of March 31, there were 16 probable cases and 234 negative test results.

A significant portion of Penn Township is grouped under the Irwin 15642 ZIP code. That ZIP code has seen a total of 2,813 confirmed cases, up by 146 since March 9.

Penn-Trafford School District reported a total of 162 covid cases since the school year began, with 18 active cases as of March 30.

Westmoreland County has a total of 20,207 confirmed cases, 8,971 probable cases, 705 deaths and 91,040 negative tests since the start of the pandemic.

A handful of single-day spikes following Christmas and New Year's caused county numbers to rise, but they have been slowly decreasing since early December. Daily positive case counts have recently dropped back to early October levels.
