After 99 years, this Marlborough restaurant serves dinner for the last time on Sunday

MARLBOROUGH Wildwood Steak House, which has served the city for nearly a century, will serve dinner for the final time on Sunday.

When reached at the restaurant on Thursday, an employee who declined to be named confirmed the timing of the restaurant's closing, ending a 99-year run.

Owner Gerry Seymour wasn't immediately available for comment.

The restaurant opened as Wildwood Inn in 1924, as many restaurants from that era provided lodging in addition to dining. Located at 189 Boston Post Road East (Route 20), the restaurant was purchased by the Seymour family in 1954, who have run it ever since.

Wildwood Steak House is known for its signature sirloin steak, but also serves fresh seafood, salads, desserts and an award-winning selection of wines. It opens at 4:30 p.m. each day except Monday.

The restaurant features a sizable private dining space, and has been home to countless wedding receptions, class reunions, charity dinners, business functions and other private events.
