AAA worker months from getting married is killed in roadside crash, Ohio officials say

A tow truck driver for AAA was among three people killed in a roadside crash Friday, April 7, in Ohio, officials say.

Keith Skaggs, 37, was loading a AAA member’s vehicle onto a tow truck along Interstate 275 in Anderson Township when he was struck by another vehicle, AAA said in a statement. Skaggs was killed, as were two others, AAA said.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office identified the other two deceased victims as Richard Glaser, 66, and Janaya Glover, 22. Two others were also injured, according to AAA.

“Our hearts go out to all of the families and colleagues impacted by this terrible tragedy,” AAA said in a statement to McClatchy News.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately respond to McClatchy News with details about the crash.

Social media posts indicate Skaggs was engaged to Karen Helton, and their wedding was planned for this summer.

Helton told WXIX learning about the crash was a “nightmare” for her.

“I’m still waiting to wake up from this horrible nightmare,” she said.

Others took the accident as a way to remind others about safe driving rules.

“Slow down and move over. Save a life,” JJ’s Towing Services said in a Facebook post. “This could have been prevented. We want to come home at the end of the day. Please make it safe for us to do so.”

“I’ve always been a huge advocate for this as I towed for AAA for sometime once and became very aware of the dangers involved,” Kenneth Patrick Miller said. “Countless close calls every day. Sorry to hear the loss of a great man.”
