AACPS Will Resume In-Person Board Of Education Meetings

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Anne Arundel County Public Schools announced Wednesday that it will resume in-person Board of Education meetings next month. The first in-person meeting will be on Oct. 7.

Though board members can meet in-person, the general public cannot. The meetings will still be closed to county residents to uphold social distancing, the school system said in a press release.

The meetings will still be viewable live on AACPS-TV and the school board's YouTube channel. Stakeholders can still submit written comments. The board also wants to allow oral comments from its virtual audience, but it is still ironing out the logistics.

The Board of Education also announced that it would move its meetings to 6 p.m. through Dec. 2. Meetings start times previously alternated between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., depending on the week. The Board of Education will revisit the start times after the soon-to-be-elected board members begin their term.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools has held virtual board meetings since coronavirus shook Maryland in March. The Board of Education hasn't convened in the board room since March 4. The board room is located in Annapolis at 2644 Riva Road.
