Aaliyah’s mother claims her daughter’s gravesite was recently used to promote a book — prompting the author of a new biography about the singer to issue a denial.

In an Instagram post Tuesday, Diane Haughton accused someone of disrupting her plans to honor her daughter at New York’s Ferncliff Cemetery and Mausoleum on Wednesday, which marked the 20-year anniversary of the R&B star’s death.

“This person interrupted all my thoughts and ideas to make August 25th, 2021 a day of Remembrance and Love for my daughter,” Haughton wrote in a statement that was shared on her daughter’s Instagram page.

“Please accept my sincere apologies for this and know I love you and always will.”

Haughton did not name the person accused of promoting the book.

However, author Kathy Iandoli — who released the “Baby Girl: Better Known as Aaliyah” last week — seemed to respond to the allegation Tuesday.

“I did not promote my book outside of Aaliyah’s gravesite,” Iandoli tweeted. “That is offensive to even suggest. I have been told that fans have had my book there with them. Please no longer bring my book to Ferncliff. Apologies that fans can not visit Aaliyah’s resting place.”

Aaliyah died in a 2001 plane crash in the Bahamas at age 22. The R&B artist is known for songs such as “Try Again” and “If Your Girl Only Knew.”

Ferncliff Cemetery and Mausoleum is located in Hartsdale in Westchester County.
