Aaron Jones explodes for 236 total yards, 3 TDs in Packers win over Lions

Aaron Jones crafted another impressive individual performance for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

The Packers running back rushed for 168 yards, caught four passes for 68 yards and scored three touchdowns during the 42-21 win over the Lions at Lambeau Field.

Jones set a new career-high with 236 total yards, beating his 226 total yards from last season in Kansas City. His 236 total yards rank second in team history (257, Billy Howton).

Jones caught a 7-yard touchdown in the first quarter, changed the game with a 75-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second half and then all but clinched the victory with a 14-yard scoring scamper in the fourth quarter.

Jones averaged 9.3 yards per attempt and needed only 18 carries to get to 168 rushing yards. He also caught passes of 22 yards and 30 yards.

On his long touchdown run, Jones sliced through both Lions safeties at the second level and then out-ran the rest of the defense for the 75-yard score, giving the Packers a 24-14 lead to start the third quarter.

Later, when the Packers cut the lead to 34-21, Jones picked up a key third down and then found the end zone from 14 yards out on the next play to put the visitors away at Lambeau Field.

Jones, who produced over 1,500 total yards and scored an NFL-high 19 touchdowns in 2019, is playing the 2020 season on the final year of his rookie contract.

Through two games, Jones has 234 rushing yards, 78 receiving yards and four total touchdowns.
