AAUW offering college scholarships for women of all ages across Beaver County

Women of all ages across Beaver County are now being offered a unique scholarship to pursue college degrees.

The Beaver Valley Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will be offering three different scholarships for girls in the area, totaling to over $15,000 for local students. These scholarships cover a wide age range and demographics, with different categories available for each level of education.

For high school students, three different scholarships of $2,500 will be offered to to 2022 female graduates having a quality point average (QPA) of 3.5 and plans to attend college or university. While any potential programs are eligible for the scholarship, the AAUW is focusing this scholarship on girls studying in areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and the arts.

Two non-traditional student scholarships will also be available, awarding $2,500 to female students returning to schooling after a significant amount of time. Candidates for this scholarship must be enrolled at an institute of higher learning and hold a QPA of at least 3.0 to be eligible.

Applications for both of these scholarships will be due by March 11.

For female law students, the Effie M. Solomon Law Scholarship is offering $2,500 to any students who have completed at least one year of law school. The deadline for this scholarship will be announced in the spring of 2022.

To apply for the AAUW scholarships, candidates can register online at the AAUW Beaver Valley website at http://beavervalley-pa.aauw.net/ to submit the application. Students can also get more information and apply with the help of their councilors and financial aid departments at the end of January.
