Abandoned boats pulled from the shores of Lake Lanier

Five sail boats abandoned across Lake Lanier have been rescued from the water.

The Lake Lanier Association says that they had crews come out earlier this week to remove some boats that had become eye sores and hazards.

Marine Specialties, Inc. pulled five abandoned boats out of the lake.

These recovery efforts come just days before association’s annual Lake Lanier cleanup event, Shore Sweep.

On Saturday morning, crews will gather to pull trash and debris out of the lake.

During 2021′s Shore Sweep event, 1,200 volunteers pulled more than 85 tons of trash and debris out of Lake Lanier.

Officials say the boats were pulled from the Van Pugh, Shoal Creek and Aqualand areas.
