Abandoned Coca-Cola mansion
Eerie images have revealed the rotting remains of an abandoned mansion once owned by soft-drinks baron Asa Griggs Candler Jr., son of Asa Griggs Candler, the co-founder of Coca-Cola.
Creepy photos show police crime tape cordoning off one room and a chilling message written on an indoor fountain: "It ran with blood." Other shots show the flaking, peeling walls of the once grand home and a huge open-space room complete with an ornate ceiling.
Candler, who helped build the Coca-Cola empire, was eccentric, alcoholic and depressed. Later in life, he became a real estate developer, opening the Briarcliff Hotel. His Briarcliff mansion and estate — also on Briarcliff Road in the Atlanta community of Druid Hills — was turned into an alcohol rehab center, then a psychiatric hospital, and is now part of Emory University's Briarcliff campus.
