Abbott Laboratories received approval on Monday for state tax incentives to build a factory in Bowling Green that will employ 450 workers.

The project was one of four approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority. The projects will create 683 jobs, retain 405 others and result in $43.7 million in new payroll and $588 million in investment, according to the state.

Abbott announced in December its plans for a Bowling Green plant that will make powder nutritional products.

Abbott, which also has a plant in Columbus, is the latest in a string of announcements by the state of new manufacturing projects including projects from Intel, Honda, Ford and General Motors.

Jobs in the projects approved Monday will have an annual payroll of $27.2 million. The tax credits have an estimated value of $8 million.

As a healthcare company, Abbott's products include diagnostic equipment, medical devices, nutritionals and generic medicines.

The factory in Bowling Green will expand the U.S. supply of essential formulas, some of which serve as the sole source of nutrition for infants, children and adults with extreme allergies to foods and other dietary and metabolic conditions, the company has said.

In central Ohio, the authority approved tax incentives for management consulting and coaching company Pathfinder Product Labs for an expansion of its Grandview Heights headquarters that will create 40 jobs by 2025 with a payroll of $5.4 million.

Pathfinder has nearly quintupled its workforce in the past two years, prompting the expansion of its 1207 Grandview Ave. location. The tax incentives have an estimated value of $700,000.
