Abelardo's Mexican Fresh coming soon to Bartlesville

Abelardo's Mexican Fresh, a quick-service Mexican restaurant, will soon make its home in the vacant Taco Bueno building near Washington Park Mall.

The Papillion, Nebraska-based restaurant chain has locations in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Missouri. It appears the Bartlesville location will be the company's first foray into Oklahoma.

"We found Bartlesville to be a beautiful city with great art! Aside from its beautiful scenery, it's known for its successful accomplishments in the business world," Bella Gutierrez, Abelardo's corporate general manager, told the E-E in an email. "We strive to be successful by bringing a potential quick-service restaurant with nothing but fresh quality Mexican food."

The restaurants are known for their extensive menu of authentic freshly made varieties of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, tortas, enchiladas, taquitos, churros, breakfast plates and Mexican drinks. Particularly popular are Taco Tuesdays, when customers can get five tacos for $5.99.

The opening date is uncertain, but the company is in the process of applying for a business license and a sign permit for the old Taco Bueno location, according to the City of Bartlesville's Aug. 30 newsletter City Beat.
