Aberdeen Central wrestlers opened with three strait first-period pins en route to a 46-16 boys wrestling win over Huron Thursday night at Golden Eagles Arena.

Central is now 8-5 in duals on the season.

Ridley Waldo, Tate Huff and Rayden Zens got the Golden Eagles off to a fast start with the pins. Mason Schrempp would add to that streak with a 16-7 majority decision.

"They just go out and do what they do, and they're really good guys to start out the dual with. I mean, whenever they come up, they're just consistently there, and they're going to go out there and look for big points," Central coach Donnie Bowden said.

After four matches, Huron got on the board with wins at 132 and 138 pounds. But then, a 145 pounds, Central's Logan Opitz downed Colt Dunkelberger 4-2 to end the brief run.

Later in the dual, the Eagles picked up four more straight wins courtesy of Ayden Gisi, Ryker Meister, Samson Flakus and Bryce Beitelspacher. Gisi, Meister and Flakus all recorded pins.

"Those matches are going to go towards the seeding, as well as towards our conference record. So it was good to get those tight matches ... We're going to see them again at individual tournaments here leading up to the region tournament. It was good to get a feel for them at the weights that we didn't come out on top, so now we understand what we need to do next time," Bowden said.

In the girls match, Central picked up a 30-18 victory over Huron. Eva Hinkle and Madyson Gillen both recorded first-period pins.

"It was good to have the girls dual before (the boys) because they got us going and it kind of woke up the boys and it got the energy in here going," Bowden said.
