Aberdeen Christian boys, Sully Buttes girls top all-conference squads

Seniors Ethan Russell and Malek Wieker of Aberdeen Christian are the co-most valuable players and lead the 2022-23 All-Lake Region Conference boys basketball team.

Wieker, Russell and senior teammate Jackson Isakson each earned first-team all-conference honors for the Knights, who won the league with a 7-0 record. Senior teammate Kaden Clark earned second-team all-league honors and senior Andrew Brennan received honorable mention.

Other First-Team Selections: Seniors Jesse Keough of Langford Area and Quintin Fischbach of Northwestern and juniors Layne Cotton of Faulkton Area, Trevor Heinz of Ipswich and Hunter Cramer of Warner.

Other Second-Team Selections: Seniors Roman DiMaria of Faulkton Area, Ian Beyers of Ipswich and Chase Neiber of Northwestern; juniors Nate Melius and Lincoln Woodring of Northwestern and Brodey Sauerwein of Warner; and sophomore Noah Kippley of Leola-Frederick Area.

Honorable Mention: Besides Brennan, others receiving honorable mention are seniors Bastien Delalande of North Central, Tyler Hettich of Ipswich, Jackson Bahr of Langford, Hans Lapka of Leola-Frederick Area and Jude Ortmeier of Northwestern; junior Chet Peterson of Ipswich; and freshman Kassen Keough of Langford Area.

Final LRC Standings: 1. Aberdeen Christian, 7-0; 2. (Tie) Northwestern and Ipswich, 5-2; 4. Warner, 4-3; 5. (Tie) Faulkton Area and Leola-Frederick Area, 3-4; 7. Lanford Area, 1-6; 8. North Central, 0-7.

All-Yellowstone Trail Conference Girls

Lydia Hill and Stevie Wittler of State B qualifier Sully Buttes each earned first-team honors on the 2022-23 All-Yellowstone Trail Conference girls basketball team.

Other first-team selections are Brittney Frickson of North Central, Tyler Simon of Potter County and Jennica Berens of Herreid-Selby Area.

Named to the second tam are Kayden Cronin and Ashley Kaup of Potter County, Jada and Jordyn Rossow of Herreid-Selby Area; and Allison Wittler of Sully Buttes.
