All three took the oath of office before continuing a meeting that was short on high-interest agenda items, but filled with routine annual appointments and elections.

Councilman Alan Johnson was elected deputy mayor. His term will run through July 2023. While Johnson was not at the meeting, the council voted unanimously to elect him.

Rob Ronayne was elected as the council's commissioner to the Aberdeen-Brown County Regional Airport Authority. Josh Rife will serve as the alternative member for meetings that Ronayne cannot attend.

Mayor Travis Schaunaman then went through the process of appointing representatives to various city boards. Johnson will remain on the airport board, while Rife will serve on the Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Board.

As deputy mayor, Johnson was automatically appointed to the communications council. Ronayne will continue to serve on the library board.

Tiffany Langer opted to stay on both the Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and Aberdeen Downtown Association boards, while Justin Reinbold and Fouberg chose the hotel alliance. Liebelt chose Parks and Recreation Board, while Novstrup also chose the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Former council member Clint Rux was also appointed to the Planning Commission. Planning and Zoning Director Brett Bill said Rux had expressed interest in joining at the end of his city council term.
