Aberdeen firefighters called to early morning fire at AGP

Aberdeen firefighters were called to Ag Processing Inc. for a fire in the upper stories of the building complex.

According to a news release from Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, responders were called to the 4800 block of Eighth Avenue Northeast, at 1 a.m. Wednesday. The fire was reportedly in the upper stories of one of the buildings.

According to the release, the fire involved mechanical equipment and agricultural product.

"Aberdeen Fire Rescue personnel and AGP staff located fire in the hopper collection system area. The fire was contained and the on-site fire suppression system assisted in controlling the fire," the release said.

Crews were able to extinguish the remaining fire and associated ‘hotspots.’

Because the fire was about 80 feet above ground level, firefighters use a variety of response tactics, including high-rise operations to fight the fire.

No one was injured in the fire, which was determined to be mechanical in nature.
