Former Texas Tech linebacker Riko Jeffers and wide receiver T.J. Vasher were drafted Wednesday by the XFL's San Antonio Brahmas.

Jeffers finished a five-season career with the Red Raiders in 2021. The last four of those seasons, his tackle totals were 68, 76, 57 and 72. He had seven career sacks. Vasher also spent five seasons with the Red Raiders, the last in 2020. He made 146 catches in his career for 1,983 yards and 21 touchdowns.

An undrafted free agent, Vasher signed with the Dallas Cowboys in May 2021. The Cowboys placed Vasher on the reserve/non-football injury list in August 2021 and waived him in August this year.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward is the Brahmas' head coach and general manager.

The XFL is conducting a three-day draft that ends Thursday. According to ESPN, the XFL developed a pool of 1,700 players to compete for 528 training-camp spots. Regular-season rosters will have 50 players, 45 being active on game days.

San Antonio is one of eight teams for the 2023 season. Others are located in Arlington, Houston, Las Vegas, Orlando, St. Louis, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

Texas Tech on Tuesday announced the signing of Antoine Andrews, a Bahamian hurdler who won the 110-meter hurdles in August at the Under-20 World Championships.

Andrews ran a personal record and wind-legal 13.23 seconds to take the gold medal at the meet in Cali, Colombia.

"He has next-level talent, coupled with work ethic and hunger," Tech assistant coach Zach Glavash said.

Andrews is Tech's second recent star hurdler signee from the Caribbean. Red Raiders freshman Vashaun Vascianna won the Big 12 indoor 60-meter hurdles title this year and finished at the NCAA championships. Vascianna, from Jamaica, was a silver medalist in the 110 hurdles at the Under-20 World Championships in 2021, running a 13.25.
