Abilene police arrest man on cellphone store robbery charges

Abilene Police arrested a 40-year-old Abilene man on charges of aggravated robbery Friday, police said in a news release.

Daniel Lee Rodriguez was arrested by detectives with the Major Investigations Bureau.

At 2:15 p.m. Friday, a man entered a cellular phone store located in the 3200 block of North First Street, threatened employees with "some type of weapon," and demanded money from the store employees, police said.

The suspect left the store with money.

Police in response canvassed the area and detectives were called out. Evidence was collected tying Rodriguez to the robbery.

He was charged with First Degree Felony Aggravated Robbery and transported to the Taylor County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
