AMTA Showcase

The Abilene Music Teachers Association will present its showcase concert, featuring students and teachers on eight pianos, at 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1333 N. First St. Admission is free.

TUESDAY, JUNE 14

Square dance workshop

TYE — The Wagon Wheel Squares will conduct a square dance workshop at 6 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel. Tracey Dowell will be the caller.

Dance

OLD GLORY — A country music dance will begin at 7 p.m. at the Old Glory Community Center. A live band will perform, and a potluck meal will be served. For information, call 940-989-2816.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15

Bilingual storytime

Isabel Trujillo will present a program of stories and music in both English and Spanish at 10:15 a.m. at the Mockingbird Branch of the Abilene Public Library, 1326 N. Mockingbird Lane.

Pet care

A program on caring for reptiles and amphibians will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Mockingbird Branch of the Abilene Public Library, 1326 N. Mockingbird Lane.

THURSDAY, JUNE 16

Book sale

The annual Friends of the Abilene Public Library book sale will begin with a members-only sale from 5-8 p.m. at the Abilene Convention Center, 1100 N. Sixth St. Memberships will be available at the door. For information, go to abilenetx.gov/apl/BookSale.

Parks & rec open house

Abilene Parks & Recreation will conduct an open house for its master plan from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Abilene Convention Center, 1100 N. Sixth St. Visitors will be able to give input on future projects.

FRIDAY, JUNE 17

Community sale

MAY — A garage sale will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the May Community Center, along with several other sales around May. Proceeds will go toward the center's upkeep, and maps will be available.

Book sale

The annual Friends of the Abilene Public Library book sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Abilene Convention Center, 1100 N. Sixth St.

Gardening program

The Big Country Master Gardeners will present a program on gardening and lawn care at 10 a.m. at the Abilene Public Library, 202 Cedar St.

Ride to work

In recognition of Ride to Work Day, motorcyclists and scooter operators will gather at the Taylor County Expo Center at 11 a.m. to raise awareness for road safety. The group will depart at 11:30 a.m. to go to a lunch at Kent's Harley-Davidson.

Sea tales

As a part of the Abilene Public Library's "Sea Tales" program, a showing of the documentary "Arctic Tale" will begin at 4 p.m. at the South Branch Library in the Mall of Abilene.

Juneteenth

► Let Us Breathe's three-day Juneteenth Freedom Festival will open at 6 p.m. at Stevenson Park, 441 E.N. Seventh St., featuring kickball, a fish fry and music.

► The Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce will conduct a Juneteenth celebration from 7-11:30 p.m. at the Abilene Convention Center, 1100 N. Sixth St. Live music, food and other entertainment will be available.

Fandangle

ALBANY — The 84th annual Fort Griffin Fandangle outdoor musical will be presented at 8:30 p.m. at the Prairie Theater, 1490 FM 1084. More than 250 local performers will present songs and stories from the region's frontier days. Reserved seating is $15. For tickets or information, go to fortgriffinfandangle.org or call 325-762-3838.

Juneteenth

► Let Us Breathe's Juneteenth Freedom Festival will continue at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome ceremony at the Abilene Convention Center, with a parade from there to Stevenson Park, 441 E.N. Seventh St., following at 10 a.m. Festivities will continue at the park through 9:30 p.m., with speakers, a cook-off, music and more.

► The Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce's Juneteenth celebration will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Abilene Convention Center, with events including a health fair and a business expo. A lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and "Showtime at the Apollo 325" will be presented at 8:30 p.m.

Recycled Regatta

Global Samaritan Resources will conduct its Recycled Regatta, with teams competing to make boats out of recycled materials, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Johnson Park. Admission is free to spectators.

A free showing of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" will begin at 2 p.m. at the Abilene Public Library, 202 Cedar St.

Choir concert

The Houston Boychoir will present a free concert at 6:30 p.m. in Woodward-Dellis Recital Hall at Hardin-Simmons University.
