All aboard! The best new cruise ships for 2024, according to U.S. News and World Report
Ready to "seas" the day?
Cruising has become one of the fastest growing sectors of tourism, with passenger numbers projected to reach 37.2 million by 2025, according to Cruise Lines International Association.
And each year, the ships are getting bigger and more tricked out.
In fact, U.S. News and World Report has compiled this list of Best New Cruise Ships for 2024 with a preview of new ships coming in 2025. Here are a few of them:
Icon of the Seas: January 2024
From Royal Caribbean International, this will be the largest cruise ship in the world, carrying up to 7,600 passengers. AquaDome, an "impressive glass-enclosed space at the top of the ship," according to U.S. News and World Report, will have an AquaTheater, panoramic ocean views and a waterfall. Fares begin around $1,930 per person (double occupancy) for a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise.
Utopia of the Seas: July 2024
Also from Royal Caribbean, this ship will be for three- and four-night ultimate weekend getaways. Fares begin around: $471 per person (double occupancy) for a three-night Bahamas cruise. It will have eight neighborhoods and a themed "mixed reality" dining experience that takes place on a train.
Sun Princess: February 2024
From the Princess Cruise Line, this will be the largest of its ships and features Sea Breeze Rollglider, a ride that soars 19 decks high and the first of its kind on a cruise ship. Fares begin around: $577 per person (double occupancy) for a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise.
Disney Treasure: December 2024
The Disney cruise line will debut the Treasure, which will sail to the Eastern and Western Caribbean and Castaway Cay, the line's private island. Fares begin around: $4,028 per person (double occupancy) for a seven-night Caribbean cruise.
