Q: Would you seek the adoption of any new gun control measures following the Bruen decision at the Supreme Court? If yes, what? If no, why not?

Our nation continues to be terrorized by the seemingly never-ending cycle of gun violence. I am proud of my record of fighting for common-sense legislation that would take illegal guns out of the hands of criminals seeking to do harm. We must take action to ban assault weapons, enact universal background checks, limit high-capacity magazines, crack down on gun trafficking, and hold gun shops accountable for theft.

What, if any, restrictions should be put on abortion? Should abortion laws be left to states or federal government?

I believe every woman has the right to decide what happens to her own body–that’s why women’s healthcare decisions should be made between a woman and her doctor, not by the government. We must have federal protections in place to prevent the draconian restrictions on abortion care we’re seeing in states across the country. I’m fighting to codify the provisions of Roe v. Wade into law to guarantee protections for reproductive rights and ensure a national ban on abortion never becomes law.

How specifically would you address inflation?

I know families are feeling the pinch in their wallets, which is why I’m working to lower the cost of everyday services and programs families rely on. I have proudly taken action to lower the costs of healthcare and prescription drugs, lower the cost of childcare, and expand the Child Tax Credit to put more money back in the pockets of hardworking families. By bringing down the cost of living is critical to uplifting families who are struggling to get by.

Should members of Congress and their family members be banned from stock trading? If yes, why? If no, why not?

Yes, I believe members of Congress and their families should be banned from stock trading. For Congress to function honestly for their constituents, we must ensure there are no conflicts of interest affecting the decision making of our representatives.

Will you accept the election results in November?

Yes.

Who won the 2020 presidential election?

Joe Biden, and it was unquestionably a free and fair election.

What is your top policy priority, how do you intend to achieve it and why do you think you deserve to be elected in November?

Extremist Republicans have been transparent that stripping all women of their reproductive rights is their top priority. We can’t allow that to happen, which is why I will work tirelessly with my partners in Congress to enact federal protections for abortion and ensure a woman’s healthcare decisions are solely hers to make. The stakes of this election could not be higher. We must protect the future of our democracy by fighting back against extremists who threaten the progress we’ve made.

Singletary did not respond, but said in a recent interview he supports universal background checks on weapons purchases.

What, if any, restrictions should be put on abortion? Should abortion laws be left to states or federal government?

Singletary did not respond, but in a recent interview said he would not support a nationwide ban because he believes women should be able to make their own well-informed, empowered decisions. To the extent that lack of resources or a social safety net unfairly weighs on some women, he said, the government should do more to help.
