ABQ pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash late Wednesday

Jun. 24—ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian late Wednesday in Southeast Albuquerque.

Officers were called to the scene at Louisiana and Trumbull around 10 p.m.

"During the investigation it was learned a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle in the intersection," Albuquerque police said in a news release. "The vehicle left the scene of the crash, southbound on Louisiana."

The pedestrian — who was not identified by police — suffered "significant head trauma and a broken leg" and was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital, where the person died.

A witness gave officers a description of the vehicle that fled, and the investigation is ongoing.

No other details were released.
