ACC/Big Ten hoops pairings set: UW to host Wake Forest

MADISON – Wisconsin is set to host Wake Forest in the 2022 ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The game is set for Nov. 29, with the tip time and broadcast information to be announced.

The pairings were announced Friday.

Wake Forest finished 13-7 in the ACC and 25-10 overall last season under Steve Forbes. After failing to receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament, the Demon Deacons went 2-1 in the NIT. They defeated Towson and VCU before falling at Texas A&M, 67-52.

Guard Daivien Williamson is the only returning starter for Wake Forest. Williamson averaged 11.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game and shot 39.5% from three-point range last season.

Jake Laravia (14.6 ppg) was selected No. 19 overall by Memphis in the NBA draft Thursday night and Alondes Williams (18.5 ppg) signed a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets after going undrafted.

UW is 0-3 against Wake Forest. The teams’ last meeting came on Nov. 29, 2005. Wake Forest recorded a 91-88 victory in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Alando Tucker scored 27 points, Brian Butch added 19 points and 10 rebounds and Kammron Taylor added 18 for UW.
