Accused drug dealer from Baton Rouge charged with second-degree murder
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An investigation by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office into a suspected drug dealer ended with the arrest of Malcolm Hall III, 29, of Baton Rouge.
EBRSO began looking into Hall after a fatal overdose on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2023. According to the affidavit, the coroner’s report stated that the death was “an accidental death due to fentanyl overdose.”
During the investigation, Hall “was identified as the suspected source of supply,” according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
EBRSO said they performed a narcotics takeaway and made “two controlled purchases from Hall.” During one of those purchases, EBRSO said they came away with pressed fentanyl pills.

Hall’s home was searched and he was taken into custody on Tuesday, Jan. 23.

6.6 ounces of fentanyl (approximately 1,848 lethal doses)
50.5 grams of methamphetamine
2.25 pounds of marijuana
46.9 grams of powder cocaine
3.2 grams of crack cocaine
2,198 dosage units of Ecstasy pills
1,525 dosage units of 325/10mg Oxycodone
2,105 dosage units of 30mg Oxycodone
51 dosage units of 15mg Oxycodone
22.5 dosage units of Alprazolam
3 dosage units of pressed fentanyl
26 cartons of THC vapes
3 packages of THC gummies
1 bottle of THC syrup
Glock .40 caliber handgun
Taurus 9mm handgun
Taurus .38 caliber revolver
Anderson Arms .556 rifle
EBRSO said, “Homicide detectives have pending charges for Hall.” He is facing multiple drug-related charges and more. Charges include:
distribution of schedule I narcotics (2 counts, affidavit warrant)
distribution of schedule II narcotics (2 counts, affidavit warrant)
possession with intent to distribute schedule I narcotics (2 counts)
possession with intent to distribute schedule II narcotics (5 counts)
possession with intent to distribute schedule IV narcotics
possession of drug paraphernalia
violation of drug law in drug free zone
illegal carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon
illegal carrying of a firearm w/CDS
second-degree murder
obstruction of justice
He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Tuesday, Jan. 23. As of the publishing of this article, bond has not been set for Hall.
