Ace of Trades: Chad Parker started his company CP's Lawncare at the age of 14

ZANESVILLE – He found his career at a very young age. Or maybe it found him.

“I’ve always liked hard work and working outdoors,” Chad Parker explained. “I’ve never been one to sit around.

“I started working at my dad’s employer at age 10,” he added, “doing lawncare, landscaping and janitorial, and began to enjoy it.”

That morphed into CP’s Lawncare.

“I started the business at age 14 mowing yards and just kept growing,” he said. “In 1999 I officially started paying taxes as a 16 year old. I paid my way through college, paid off my first house at age 25 and just kept growing the business.”

Now 40, Parker grew up in Zanesville, graduated from John Glenn High School in 2001, then Muskingum University with an undergrad degree in mathematics education and a master’s in school administration.

“I taught at West Muskingum for 10 years while also running the business,” he said. “But I got out of teaching due to how busy we had become.”

Parker said his company does “everything outdoors.”

“We provide high-quality service to our customers for all their outdoor needs,” he summed.

To accomplish that, he has anywhere from 15 to 20 employees.

“Chad is one of the most dedicated and hardworking people around,” assessed Ben Lowe, a friend and co-owner of Lowe’s Bargain Barn Furniture in Zanesville.

“He’s always looking for an opportunity to better himself and his family,” Lowe continued. “He’ll drop everything to help a stranger any time there’s a need. His work with CPs is much the same. He works tirelessly each day side-by-side with all his employees to provide great service and ensure that his customers are well taken care of.”

“I enjoy the challenge of running a business and keeping customers happy,” Parker responded. “I love what I do. It’s challenging, satisfying, and monetarily rewarding.”
