PATASKALA – For him, the reward is seeing people heal.

"Growing up," recalled David Claggett, "I always thought I was going to end up being a teacher. This worked out in a different way than I could have guessed though. The word 'doctor' in Latin means 'to teach,' and I have a great time using my gift of teaching with my patients."

Today, Claggett is the man behind Genesis Chiropractic in Pataskala.

"We started Genesis Chiropractic to be a place of help and healing where people can unlock their ability to be well," he explained. "Our bodies were designed by God to be healthy. Sometimes there’s just some interference that gets in the way. It’s my job to remove that interference!"

He named it Genesis Chiropractic because, he explained, "The word 'genesis' means 'beginning' or 'origin' of something. We wanted this office to be a starting point for people to get back on their journey to health."

Claggett, 27, grew up in Newark, graduated from Licking County Christian Academy in 2014, Ohio State in 2018 with a degree in business management, then Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2021.

"I first developed a serious interest in chiropractic in my senior year of high school," he said. "I wrote a research paper about the general history of chiropractic, and this morphed into a love. From about the time I graduated high school, there was never a doubt in my mind I would be going to chiropractic college once finished with undergrad. A visit to Iowa in 2016 helped to solidify this in my mind.

"I believe my interest was piqued by my family’s chiropractor, Dr. Michael Orr," Claggett added. "The amazing results he was able to have with my family really spurred me in the direction I took. He also attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, so that made that choice even easier."

Claggett opened Genesis Chiropractic in February 2022.

"Dr. Claggett’s technique is unlike other chiropractors I’ve been to in the past," said Mary Jane Perrault. "It’s always gentle without a lot of manipulation. Aside from the physical benefits, Dr. Claggett is just a really nice man, the office is always well managed, and never have I waited more than a few minutes to see him."

"I really do this 'work' because I love it," Claggett responded. "It’s something I look forward to doing every day when I wake up, and if I had to, I would do for free. It really has its own built-in reward system when you get to see people getting better."
