Aces of Trades: Macey Power wants to inspire people as a life coach
CHILLICOTHE – She found a career at a young age, but it took years to realize it.
“Growing up people always came to me when they had a problem,” recalled Macey Power. “I would listen and help them find solutions. I had been to a handful of therapists by this time in my life for different reasons but couldn’t ever find one that I clicked with, or that actually offered the tools to help me. So I thought maybe I would want to become a psychologist or therapist and help people through their mental health disorders and challenges. I explored this in college and ended up failing psych 101. It really wasn’t until 2020 and the pandemic hit that I knew I wanted to become a life coach.”
Now, her business name is Coaching with Macey. “And as I coach,” she noted, “I refer to myself as Coach Macey.”
“I got my certification the summer of 2021,” she continued, “and started my business the fall of 2021. I help clients uncover the challenges and barriers keeping them from living a life full of abundance, clarity and purpose and hold space and accountability for those navigating the journey of discovering their purpose.”
Power grew up in Mt. Sterling, graduated from Madison Plains HS in 2012, went to college at Ohio University in Athens, moved to Chillicothe in 2014, and then graduated from the OU Chillicothe branch in 2016 with a degree in health care administration and a minor in business.
“I’m an only child so growing up I used my imagination a lot,” she said. “I also loved to dance, cheer and do gymnastics. When I was young, I always dreamed of becoming a professional performer. My mom was a teacher, so I also played school a lot. But I didn’t like school as a kid or a teen so I knew I wouldn’t want to go into education.”
“When I got older,” she added, “I thought to be ‘successful’ meant you had to have some kind of an office job. So I would picture myself driving a nice car to work, wearing nice business clothes, which is what I tried to do. After doing this for so long, I realized this was not something I could see myself doing long term.”
“But I never dreamed of becoming a life coach,” she continued, “because at the time I had no idea that a career like this even existed. I never knew my life would unfold the way it has! Long story short, I heard about a life coaching training offered online by someone who I deeply admire. I decided to take a chance and use the extra time I had to invest in myself and get my certification.”
“People believe you have to have breadth of experience or a long history of skills to be a life coach,” assessed Mike Throne, president & CEO of the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce, “But I believe it’s about knowing your purpose and trusting your ability to lead people to their purpose. Macey exhibits both of those behaviors and it’s part of the reason people gravitate toward her. Her infectious attitude and work are already letting people see their potential and giving them clarity. She’s one of the people we entrusted with the return of our young professional’s organization, and she repaid that trust with a vibrancy that is powering the group.”
“Chillicothe was never in ‘my plan’ and neither was becoming a life coach,” Power responded, “but I’m literally living my dream life. I truly have a desire to help others and be there for someone who’s looking for help. I’m passionate about sharing my story to inspire others who feel stuck, alone and confused. With the way the world is life coaches are such a need right now!”
“I have a deep passion for this community,” she concluded, “and want to leave an impact on it. And I want to inspire others to do what makes them happy and feel purposeful. We all deserve a life full of clarity, peace, joy and purpose.”
