Aces of Trades: Paige Farmer embraced her creativity

CHILLICOTHE – She discovered she’s more creative than she realized.

“I’m a country gal,” said Paige Farmer. “I grew up in the country, loving animals, being outside, and four-wheeler riding. As a kid, I loved to write. I would write stories during all hours of the day and night, for fun. I probably started doing that around 4th grade. I really enjoyed and excelled in communications, language arts, English.”

“I didn’t get the hint until recently,” she added. “Now it’s all clicked. What is meant to be will always find its way.”

Today, Farmer is owner of Dear Sadie, a business that provides marketing and event planning services.

“I help them create the event of their dreams with memories they will cherish forever,” she explained. “I also help clients create graphics such as a logo and a marketing plan that streamlines their brand and target audience.”

“My greatest role model and biggest influence,” she continued, “is my grandma Louise. I was with her a lot growing up. She was an independent woman who could do anything from birth a cow to cook a good meal, all while being so loving and nurturing to her family. She is the type of woman I inspire to be – an independent, successful, and driven woman doing whatever it takes to provide for my kids.”

The name Dear Sadie, by the way, came from Farmer’s late Corgi named Sadie Louise – Louise after her grandmother.

“Sadie was like an emotional support dog for me,” Farmer said. “I had her 12 years and never imagined a day without her. Her love never wavered. She’s my reason for moving forward because it’s the least I could do for her. Plus, my kids keep me going. They inspire me to my best self. They are by far my biggest motivator.”

Farmer grew up in Pike County, graduated from Waverly High School, then Ohio University with a bachelor’s in health administration in 2015.

“I did an internship, which led me to marketing and communications,” she said. “I fell in love with marketing and quickly realized I had a creative brain. I found event planning and being creative came naturally. This is what prompted my interest in creating a business that provides marketing and event planning services.”

After graduating, Farmer worked in the marketing department at Adena Health System. Eight years later, she started Dear Sadie.

Dr. Blake Lloyd with North Fork Animal Clinic was the veterinarian “who saw Sadie all the way through.”

“Sadie was always such a happy dog who really brought a smile to everyone’s face and really had such a positive impact on everyone,” assessed Lloyd. “Dear Sadie, as a company, is an incredible tribute to Paige’s best friend.”

“I never dreamed I’d be doing what I’m doing now,” Farmer responded. “I do it for multiple reasons. I love doing it. To keep Sadie’s memory alive. And it’s supporting my dreams and goals. Sadie passed away in March of this year and I was either going downhill or I was going to come out on top. And for her, in her honor, I’m coming out on top.”
