Aces of Trades: West Lafayette Mayor Stephen Bordenkircher loves his video work

WEST LAFAYETTE – Growing up, he thought of becoming an accountant. But he had another love.

“I’ve always had a love for photography,” said Stephen Bordenkircher, “I did have a camera in hands a lot. And it expanded while I was in the Air Force. And while in the Air Force I was first introduced to video and that love and interest continued to grow. A friend had a super 8 video camera and we messed around a lot shooting video.”

Today, Bordenkircher owns and operates Bordenkircher Enterprises.

“Whether it is a simple process video tape,” his web site states, “a social media video post/advertising spot, or detailed training we are here to help. Still photography is also available.”

“I enjoy the editing and writing portions as well,” he added.

Now 68, Bordenkircher grew up in Coshocton, graduated from Coshocton High School in 1972, then while in the Air Force he attended Los Angeles City College majoring in fire protection engineering and industrial hazard control. After the USAF, he obtained a degree in business management.

“I was a VP, senior VP and a CEO,” he said, “for several different TPA’s (Third Party Administrator) managing workers compensation and unemployment claims. The last 15 years I developed a unique set of video skills developing video-based written procedures, training programs. After I semi-retired in 2020, I decided to develop my skills into something I could market.”

“Steve started his own business and made it into what it is today, which shows he’s a go-getter,” assessed Oren Griffith, president of the West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. “He’s been a friend of mine for several years and I marvel at his success. I couldn’t be more proud to call him a very near and dear friend.”

“It’s something I love doing,” Bordenkircher responded. “I just don’t get tired of it.”
