ACMC luncheon to focus on women's heart health

Jan. 20—GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE — Reservations for the 17th annual ACMC Women's Health Lunch are needed by Monday.

The event has been a mainstay in the social calendar for women for many years, with a variety of vendors at the event and speakers focusing on the importance of heart health for women.

The event is scheduled for Feb. 3 with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. at the Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake.

Dr. Catherine Bishop, of ACMC, will field heart-related questions during the luncheon, which will include a heart-healthy meal.

"All attendees are reminded to wear red to show support for women's heart health," said ACMC Vice President of Business Development Tina Stasiewski.

She said the event is important because there are so many Ashtabula County residents that who victim to the disease.

"Heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death in Ashtabula County. Research continues gives us more insight into new medications and therapies to treat it," Stasiewski said.

"The Heart Lunch is an opportunity to learn about that, as well as to be reminded of the simple lifestyle changes we can make today to keep our hearts healthy."

Stasiewski said the heart lunch is both fun and informative.

"It is a great way for women to enjoy time with one another, do a little shopping, and learn more about taking care of our hearts, she said.

Stasiewski said Bishop is humorous and has a down-to-earth personality. She said tables may be reserved for parties of eight and the deadline is Monday.
