ACMC presents home health awards

Jan. 1—ASHTABULA — Ashtabula County Medical Center Regional Home Health recently honored caregivers for years of service and excellence in patient care, according to a press release provided by the hospital.

"Home health caregivers provide care to patients in the comfort of their own home as they heal after acute illness, injury, or surgery. ... They also provide support for family members who care for a loved one at home," the releases states.

"It is the thanks to the dedication and compassion of our caregivers that we are here today," ACMC President and CEO Leonard Stepp, Jr., said.

"You are the strength that makes my ability to take care of patients on the home front a lot easier. It is you, the team you have, that makes our patients comfortable, and we are grateful," said Catherine Bishop, an ACMC long term care specialist.

Sadie Brunell was given the Spirt Award, which is given to those who accomplish whatever is needed to enhance patient care.

Four caregivers received the Quality Star Award for exemplary performance at the department level. The winners were Amy Kollhoff, a registered nurse; Randall Schiff, a physical therapist; Kim Hinebaugh, an aide; and Diana Bassin for office support.

Sally Donatone, a registered nurse, received the Caring Star Award that recognizes excellence in customer service, showing empathy, and providing patients with positive interactions.

Joanne Howard, a physical therapist assistant, and Kathleen Crimm, an occupational therapist, received the "Make a Difference Award" for improving a work process, or system honoring those who continually seek solutions to improve care.

"Next year our agency will celebrate 50 years of providing home health services to Ashtabula County. I am proud of the challenges we have overcome throughout the years to bring us to this point," said Sue Shadle, executive director of ACMC Regional Home Health.
