Still time for graduation weekend reservations at Cardinal Spirits

Cardinal Spirits has a four-course special menu available May 5 and 6 for Indiana University graduation weekend with a few seats still available. The menu is sharable, with a cocktail party feel that includes, of course, a cocktail.

A shared appetizer is the first course with several choices, followed by another choice: burrata with spinach, shaved fennel, toasted almonds, lemon-white balsamic vinegar served with crostini; warm flatbread with alfredo, roasted red pepper, confit tomato, arugula, balsamic and bacon; or pork and sausage meatballs and marinara with provolone and parmesan cheese with warm Italian bread.

Third course is a choice of jumbo shrimp cocktail; chimichurri-topped braised beef short rib with garlic olive potato puree; or sautéed oyster mushrooms with seared polenta points. Dessert options are Piccoli Dolci chocolate tart, peanut butter mousse, toasted marshmallow; Affogato, created with Chocolate Moose vanilla ice cream, Songbird Coffee Liqueur and espresso beans; and Valencia ice cream made with vanilla ice cream, Valencia Triple Sec sauce and orange zest.

Cardinal Spirits is at 922 S. Morton St. For reservations, go online to www.cardinalspirits.com or call 812-202-6789.

The Bowl closes 'forever'

From social media posts, it looks like The Bowl, a Bloomington restaurant that's most recent iteration served Korean food at 2800 E. Buick Cadillac Blvd., is closed. In an April 18 Facebook post, it says the restaurant is "closed forever," and that other restaurants with the same name may open at some future time but will not be the same. The post states, "But we can not coming back."
