An action movie starring Sylvester Stallone and other Hollywood celebrities is filming in Pearlington and Waveland this month.

The movie, called “Armored,” is about a father and son who work in an armored truck as security guards. The action takes place on a bridge, where the duo becomes trapped by a team of robbers from both sides and must find a way to escape the bridge alive.

It also stars Jason Patric, Josh Wiggins and Dash Mihok, a representative of Convergence Entertainment Group said.

The Beverly Hills-based group has been in Mississippi for three months and just finished filming “Cash Out 2” starring John Travolta and Quavo in Biloxi.

The group loves the Mississippi Coast, the representative said, and is filming “Armored” at a local bridge that producers chose for its cinematic views. The group declined to name the bridge.

Crews started filming at the Keesler Federal Credit Union in Waveland on Thursday, location manager Ted Voorhies said. That branch is closed for the rest of the day.

The representative said the Bay-Waveland branch was the only bank in the area that allowed crews to film.

Voorhies said the film is being produced independently during the ongoing actors strike in Hollywood.

Voorhies has been scouting for houses to film at in Waveland, according to an online post of a filming request letter he distributed to Waveland residents. “Armored” has also posted casting calls for Mississippi Coast residents, including one for the role of “church goer.”

Crews will film in Mississippi until the second week of October, Convergence Entertainment said. The group said it will be “roughly a year” until the movie is released.
