All-clear given after armed barricaded subject leads to shelter in place in San Pablo

SAN PABLO, Calif. (KRON) – A San Pablo neighborhood that was under a shelter-in-place order from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office on Monday has been given the all-clear. The Montalvin Mannor area near Rachel and Heather roads was advised to lock down in the nearest place of safety at around 3 a.m. Monday.

The Contra Costa Sheriff’s public information officer confirmed on X that there was “an armed barricaded subject” in the 1400 block of Rachel Road in San Pablo. That suspect is now in custody, the PIO said.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office advised the residents to “stay inside, close and lock all windows and doors.” The sheriff’s office also advised residents to stay off the phone and not to call 911 unless they need to report a life-threatening emergency.

A witness told KRON4’s Will Tran, who was at the scene, she heard gunshots near the scene.

There are no reported injuries at this time.

Montalvin Manor K-8 school announced that the school will be closed on Monday due to police activity. An all-clear was given as of 3:56 p.m. Monday.
