Upcoming programming at Rodman Public Library during November and December.

Kids Crafting continues at RPL

Children ages 5-12 are invited to Rodman Public Library between 4 and 4:45 p.m. Nov. 10 for a drop-in make-and-take kids crafting program to create a fall critter magnet. All materials used during monthly kids crafting programs are provided for free, while supplies last, thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library. Christmas movie series

Rodman Public Library is getting into the holiday spirit early this year with a Christmas Movie Series during the month of November.

For three consecutive weeks, a holiday favorite will be shown on the big screen inside the Main Auditorium. Admission to the feature films will be free, and fresh-popped popcorn will be provided by the library thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library.

All movies will begin at 5:30 p.m., and no registration is required to attend any of the movies, which are open to all ages. However, children younger than 13 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Note: Due to licensing agreements, the library can not divulge the names of movie titles in the mainstream media.

Nov. 15 – Series begins with a 1954 musical comedy starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen in which a successful song-and-dance team becomes romantically involved with a sister act that team up to save the failing Vermont inn. Two hours.

Nov. 21 – Michael Caine stars in a 1992 retelling of a classic Charles Dickens tale of an old and bitter miser’s redemption on Christmas Eve. The cast also features puppet characters. 85 minutes.

Nov. 28 – A classic Christmas movie filmed in Cleveland stars Peter Billingsley as a young boy in the 1940s who attempts to convince his parents, teacher and even Santa that a Red Ryder range 200-shot BB gun really is the perfect Christmas gift. 93 minutes.

Holiday storytime

Storytime will have a holiday theme for five weeks at the Rodman Branch Library, from Nov. 15 to Dec. 13.

Miss Becky will share stories, songs, holiday fun facts and a special activity at 10:30 a.m. each Tuesday.

No registration is necessary and the event is open to children of all ages and is intended to encourage lifelong readers through stories, music, movement, and activities.

Each week of Holiday Storytime will feature a different theme:

Nov. 15 – During Turkey Week, children will make turkey costumes out of paper bags.

Nov. 22 – During Gobble Gobble Week, children will explore sounds the turkey makes and will create their own kazoos and Thanksgiving story bracelets.

Nov. 29 – Children will take up decorating during Christmas Cookie Week.

Dec. 6 – Children will make Santa binoculars during Santa Week.

Dec. 13 – During Rudolph Week, children will make reindeer food and play a reindeer game.

Stuffed animal sleepover

Calling all stuffed animal friends! Do you need a getaway? Would you like to meet new friends?

If so, your human can drop you off at at 4 p.m. Nov. 18 at Rodman’s Branch Library for a sleepover. Staff will have check-in activities to complete and a story.

Stuffed animals will get to enjoy activities like cart races, movies, reading, and many more shenanigans throughout the night. Pictures will be posted on the library’s Facebook and Instagram pages so their humans can keep an eye on all the fun during the sleepover.

Humans can enjoy a light breakfast of doughnuts and juice when they pick up their stuffed animal friends at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 19.
