Actor and former professional wrestler David Arquette will speak at FAU on Wednesday

BOCA RATON — American actor and former professional wrestler David Arquette will speak at Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Arquette will be in conversation with Assistant Professor Marquese McFerguson of the FAU School of Communication and Multimedia Studies. The conversation, called “Clowning Around with David Arquette,” will be about celebrity and family life. The event will start at 5 p.m. in the University Theatre on FAU’s Boca Raton campus.

The event is free but requires a ticket. Participants can register at fauevents.com.

Who is David Arquette?

Arquette is best known for his role as Dewey Riley in the slasher film franchise Scream. He won a Teen Choice Award and two Blockbuster Entertainment Awards for his success with the role. Recently, he joined the cast of Peacock's Mrs. Davis, and appeared in the 2020 Indie film Spree opposite Stranger Things’ Joe Keery and the 2022 drama The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry along with Kunal Nayyar, Lucy Hale and Scott Foley. He’s produced successful television shows such as the sitcom Cougar Town and the gameshow Celebrity Name Game.

In 2000, he won the World Championship Wrestling heavyweight belt and turned that notoriety into a role of comic relief in the field.

That came the year after he married actress Courteney Cox and they have a daughter, Coco Arquette, born in 2004. The two filed for divorce in June 2012 and he has since married Entertainment Tonight correspondent Christina McLarty.

How can I get to University Theatre for the conversation with David Arquette?

University Theatre is located on top of a hill, inside the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters building. If you are driving from Interstate 95, exit Glades Road East. If you are coming from Federal Highway, head west on Glades Road. And if you are coming from Spanish River Boulevard, turn south onto NW 8th Avenue/FAU Boulevard.

Once parked, walk left out of the parking garage along Arts Avenue. The University Theatre will be ahead. Here is a full list of directions and parking instructions.
