Now that the proposed MMA fight between Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and X's Elon Musk has fallen through, maybe Musk can square off with Oscar-nominated actor James Woods.

Musk and the Rhode Island native have already duked it out on X, with Musk scoring an apparent knock-out by blocking his onetime champion.

Or maybe Woods won, since he claimed that Musk's action proved his point.

Elon Musk, shown speaking at the National Governors Association meeting in Providence in 2017, got into a tiff over the weekend with Rhode Island native actor James Woods on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Elon Musk, shown speaking at the National Governors Association meeting in Providence in 2017, got into a tiff over the weekend with Rhode Island native actor James Woods on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Blocking is exactly what started the brouhaha between the former bros, as Woods took to X, the former Twitter, to complain about Musk's plan to remove the block option from X.

Woods wrote, "If @elonmusk removes the ability to block concerted harassment by trolls or organized political entities, how will “X” be any different from Jack Dorsey’s horrid Twitter? Musk, whom I once championed, is only doing this to protect his advertisers anyway. Users of X are mere pawns to turn the site into an electronic shopping mall. The man I thought was a defender of free speech is just another greedy capitalist. Disappointing, but not surprising."

Picking up on the feud, Mediaite, a website that focuses on politics and the media, noted that Woods a few months ago told Fox News' Tucker Carlson that Musk "may have saved America" with his Twitter takeover.

Woods, who's become well-known for his conservative viewpoints, made news in Rhode Island recently when he fought a neighbor's plan to build a two-bedroom home at the edge of Boone Lake. Woods' family has owned property on the lake, near the Arcadia Management Area, for decades. Woods graduated from Pilgrim High School in Warwick.

The keyboard clash with Musk started after Woods complained on Friday about being trolled on Twitter in another dispute.

“In the midst of a libel suit I was targeted by thirty trolls the defendant enlisted to harass me,” Woods wrote. “X will be untenable for people like me, who are willing to share their identities. If he does this, I will have no choice but to retire from this site.”

After Woods later called Musk "just another greedy capitalist," the X CEO counter-punched Sunday, saying, "Then delete your account."

Woods didn't take Musk's bait. After all, he was still on X when Musk blocked him and was able to tweet a screenshot of Musk's move.

“You prerogative, sir, which is exactly my point,” Woods wrote. “Have a nice day.”
