American actor Mickey Rourke announced on his Instagram on Jan 1 that he was supporting a $1 million fundraiser through the NGO One World Aid Alliance to support building homes in the front-line city of Kherson.

The One World Aid Alliance charity fund is run by the actor's friend from Mykolaiv, Dmytro Korniychuk, who has been working with Rourke for ten years.

"I know you [Ukrainians] are going through a lot of very terrible s**t," Rourke said.

“I have an assistant and a friend who has been working with me for 10 years. Dima is from Ukraine, and I love him very much. He has 12 family members in Ukraine. My message to all the people in Ukraine is that this has nothing to do with bulls**t politics. Our goal is to rebuild homes in Kherson and provide a safe place to the families who have lived through these difficult times. We are trying to raise $1 million and help all the people who are in bad shape and are really suffering.”
