Aug. 14—Employees and patrons of Starbucks in Chehalis were a bit starstruck on Friday when actor and musician Jeff Goldbum and his band stopped in for a beverage, presumably while on the way from Portland to Seattle for a concert.

The actor perhaps best known for his roles in Jurassic Park, Independence Day and dozens of other movies and television shows since the 1970s made a good impression during his brief visit, posing for photos with staff and customers and living up to his amiable reputation.

"I met him today on my shift at Starbucks," Madison Amburgy wrote on Friday in an email to The Chronicle. "Met his band and had a conversation with him about coffee and took his order. He is a great guy!"

Another staff member, Hannah Rodeheaver, wrote of the encounter on Facebook.

"He was so kind!" she wrote. "I can't believe I made his drink too ... Jeff even patiently waited for us to get a group picture when we were busy helping other customers. So cool! Highlight of my week."

In addition to his acting career, Goldblum is also an accomplished jazz pianist. His band, Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, performed at the Moore Theater in Seattle just hours after his stop in the Mint City.

It's not the actor's first time in the area.

In 2017, Goldblum was in Tenino to film the independent film "The Mountain." He left a similar positive impression then.

"Just a super nice guy," Tenino Mayor Wayne Fournier said at the time.
